Call for Papers – Mobilising Land and Culture: The Highlands and the British State, 1725-2025

On the 14th of June the University of St Andrews will host a conference marking three hundred years since the appointment of General George Wade and the raising of the Highland Independent Companies.

We are overjoyed to announce we will be joined by two plenary speakers: Professor Sir Hew Strachan and Professor Andrew Mackillop.

We welcome all submissions dealing with any aspect of the relationship between the Highlands, or Highlanders, and the British State between 1725 and 2025. Please submit all abstracts, either for in-person or for online presentations to [email protected] by 5th May, with a short biography. We greatly look forward to reading your submissions!
